EMotional Literacy Labs

The Bluest Space Literacy Labs

The Literacy Labs are free two-hour, hands-on workshops for youth ages 10 - 16 designed to develop emotional literacy through the core elements of film production. Participants will explore storytelling, voice, perspective, and self-expression while learning foundational camera and audio skills. Each session encourages students to reflect on their identity, experiences, and the world around them, building confidence, emotional awareness, and personal agency through creative media.
Hosted in partnership with Fulton County Libraries, including the Gladys S. Dennard branch at South Fulton Library, these labs provide a safe, engaging space for youth to experiment with film and storytelling while developing skills that extend beyond the screen.
 Goals:
  • Build confidence and communication skills
  • Explore emotions and self-expression
  • Learn filmmaking basics: writing, interviewing, framing, and reflection
  • Connect personal voice to social and cultural ideas
